Sun / Heat:
The intensity of the heat of the sun is mainly a question of the color of the roof. A dark roof naturally absorbs more heat and will be hotter than a brighter roof.
A TEJAtec concrete roof tile in the color orange absorbs similary the same heat as a clay tile in orange.
A dark brown TEJAtec roof will absorbe more heat than a white TEJAtec roof.
Operative is the heat conduction. Installed with mortar the roof stones can transfer the temperature to the roof construction more easily than to roofs with the wooden laths construction.
TEJAtec roof stones are constructed with two nibs for the installation on wooden laths. This installation system has a kind of air buffer between the roof stone and the roof made of concrete or wood. The temperature can not be easily transferred from one material to the other. As well, the roof stones provide shade for the roof construction.
Tests have proven that a thick cana roof has the same good isolation than a similar roof with TEJAtec roof stones. The temperature condition has been the same for both roofs. The difference in temperature was one degree in the midday's heat. The TEJAtec roof cooled much faster and the room temperature inside was very comfortable.
